| Mayor Proclaims “real Estate Apprentice Day” |

ALISO VIEJO, CA., Sept. 7, 2005 - On the evening of September 1st, 2005 Sue
Schlapp the Vice Major of Wichita Kansas proudly read a proclamation announcing
that day to be Real Estate Apprentice Day. Representing Mr. Carlos Mayans the
Major and the City of Wichita Kansas, Ms. Schlapp called upon their citizens
to “observe this day by supporting and promoting professionalism in real
estate education and in the real estate industry”. Ms. Schlapp personally
honored the Real Estate Apprentice™ Grand Prize Winner Kathleen “Katie” Wyatt
by her attendance and all Wichita professional real estate women and men for
making a significant contribution to the real estate industry and the local
economy. At a gala event staged at Career Education Systems (CES) Real Estate
School, a RealtyU Affiliate, a large number of industry professionals joined
CES owners Mark and Regina Barker for an evening of sumptuous foods, heartwarming
praise, the flash of cameras, the giving of awards, and the crowning of the
Second Real Estate Apprentice Katie Wyatt. Guests in attendance included Directors
representing the Wichita Local Real Estate Board, premier Wichita real estate
brokerage firms, and Katie’s own real estate colleagues, friends and
family from the city.
Opening the ceremony was Mark Barker who honored Ms. Schlapp for her continued
support and understanding of the value of professional real estate education
and the contributions of the industry in general. Ms. Schapp humbly accepting
Mr. Barker’s comments, went on to read from a beautiful City of Wichita
documents embossed with gold lettering, these words: ” Proclamation of
The City of Wichita, Kansas, Founded in 1870. Whereas professional real estate
women and men make a significant contribution to the real estate industry and
the local economy; and Whereas professional real estate educators are committed
to meeting the needs of the real estate professional while promoting real estate
practices that serve and promote the needs of the public, and Whereas the Real
Estate Apprentice Program and Career Education Systems Real Estate School recognize
the importance of professionalism in the real estate industry and Whereas Wichita
citizen Kathleen Katie Wyatt has been awarded the prestigious Real Estate Apprentice
Grant by the National Real Estate Apprentice Foundation, Now therefore, be
it resolved that I, Carlos Mayans, Major of the City of Wichita, Kansas do
hereby proclaim September 1, 2005 as REAL ESTATE APPRENTICE DAY and call upon
our citizens to observe this day by supporting and promoting professionalism
in real estate education and the real estate industry.”
On August 31st, 2005, the Real Estate Apprentice Foundation had proudly announced
that its panel of 12 Judges had selected Kathleen “Katie” Wyatt
as the Season II Grand Prize Winner. Katie was chosen to be #1 out of 3,593
grant applicants representing the United States and Canada. Applications were
judged on the basis of salesmanship and communication skills, entrepreneurial
spirit, integrity, creativity and uniqueness.
Wyatt who is a full time agent with New Home Marketing in Wichita Kansas only
passed her real estate exam in February 2005, and has already racked up a phenomenal
11 listings and 11 sales. Her sales were not only in new homes but 50% of her
transactions included existing homes. Katie received $75,000 worth of real
estate education products, instruction, books and services from the Foundation,
courtesy of various leading companies that sponsor the only national grant
competition program helping new agents become more successful. Mrs. Wyatt took
her real estate licensing courses at Career Education Systems. Mr. Dave Gosha
of CES was also honored for outstand teaching and administration of the CES
facility. Flying to Wichita to make the presentation to Ms. Katie and represent
the Foundation was Dr. Martin Oliver, Deputy Executive Director.
Season III of the Apprentice competition opened July 1st, 2005 and will run
through December 31st, 2005. Real estate students who have taken or will be
taking their new agent pre-licensing class during the Season III time-frame
or 90 days prior, or those who were newly licensed for the first time as an
agent during that same time frame can enter the grant program by simply applying
