Tom Mangum has been teaching Real Estate Fundamentals and Brokerage Licensing Courses since 1978 and is one of the most well respected educators in North Carolina. For the past two decades, Mangum has provided information, enthusiasm, and commitment to real estate students at the Howard Perry and Walston Real Estate School and has served as director since 1989.

Under his leadership, the school has grown to be the largest private real estate school in the Triangle metro area and was named the Outstanding Program of the Year by the North Carolina Real Estate Educators Association (NCREEA) in 1994 and 1997. Among his many accomplishments, Tom has developed his own Fundamentals, Brokers and Continuing Education courses, dramatically increased the school’s class offerings, and opened satellite locations throughout the state.

Throughout his career Mangum has been recognized for his dedication and service and has received numerous awards. He was honored by his peers as NCREEA’s Real Estate Educator of the Year in 1993 and is a two-time winner of NCREEA’s prestigious Outstanding Program of the Year. In 1999 Mangum was named Vice President for Howard Perry and Walston, and in 2003 he received the coveted Howard Perry and Walston Garland Spangler Award for his commitment to the company. This past year, he was elected president of the North Carolina chapter of the Real Estate Educators Association and will serve a one-year term in 2004.

Mangum is also an acclaimed author of “Guaranteed to Pass”, an audio program designed to assist real estate students in preparing for the NC State Salesman Exam. He is an avid wine connoisseur, as well, and takes frequent trips to Napa Valley to participate in the harvest crush.
